Carolina Panthers Urged to Trade for QB Drafted No. 1 Overall

Nearly three years ago, the Carolina Panthers traded D.J. Moore, two firsts, plus two second-round picks for the right to make Bryce Young the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He’s led them to a very underwhelming 11-25 record since, failing to develop into a true franchise quarterback.

While the Panthers have been winning much more as of late, it’s not due to Young. However, if the Panthers want to take the next step toward playoff contention, they’ll need better play under center.

The NFL trade deadline has already passed, but we could see the Panthers reevaluate their QB situation when the offseason arrives. Another former No. 1 overall pick could intrigue them.

Recently, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton suggested that Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray would be an “ideal fit” to land in Carolina.

The Panthers would certainly fit the criteria of needing a quarterback, but not necessarily being in a prime position to select one. Plus, they may not be quite ready to give up on Young altogether. Yet, bringing in some competition for him, especially one with a similarly high ceiling? That could be a move that Carolina is ready to sign off on.

The Cardinals are expected to either trade or possibly even release Murray this offseason. If so, the Panthers would be wise to consider their options.
