The Carolina Panthers have signed quarterback Bryce Perkins following his MVP season in the UFL.

Perkins, 28, has joined the team following an injury to veteran backup Andy Dalton, who recently went viral for accidentally sacking himself and is now nursing an elbow injury from an unrelated incident.

The former UFL star led the Michigan Panthers to the UFL Championship game despite missing three fixtures with injuries, where they eventually lost to the DC Defenders.

According to Adam Schefter, he’s signing with another Panthers team following said injury.

Bryce Perkins Has Played In The NFL Before

Bryce Perkins has NFL experience, having spent time with the Los Angeles Rams from 2020 to 2022 and appearing in five games, starting in one of them. He was on the Rams Super Bowl-winning roster in 2021 and has a championship ring.

Prior to his time in the league, the 28-year-old was a standout at Virginia, where he earned a reputation as a dual-threat quarterback.

The Panthers decided to go for him after Dalton sustained an elbow injury in Saturday’s preseason game against the Houston Texans. The team plans to sit its starters in their final preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and were after some additional depth at QB.

Perkins will likely be given an opportunity to compete for a backup role behind starter Bryce Young in 2025.
