The Arizona Cardinals tight end group is getting a new roster member as former New York Jets athlete Kenny Yeboah is coming to the desert per Mike Garafolo.

Yeboah (6’-4”, 250 pounds) spent the last four seasons with the Jets.

Every NFL club is at the stage where they tweak their training camp roster as guys become injured or additional talent becomes available through the waiver wire. To make room for Yeboah, it was assumed that rookie DT Kaleb Proctor will be placed on IR after tearing his meniscus, but the team released LB Stephen Dix, Jr. instead.

Yeboah went undrafted in 2021 out of Ole Miss, where he was named Third Team All-SEC. He finished his senior season with 27 receptions for 524 yards and scored six touchdowns. With his pre-draft measurables, he ran a 4.75 in the 40, had a vertical jump of 34”, benched 225 pounds 15 times, and had a 9’8” broad jump.

He signed with New York shortly after the draft concluded, and over the course of four seasons, he has been released twice, signed to the practice squad two times, placed on IR an additional two occurrences, and promoted to the main roster five different occasions.

In the spring of 2025, he signed with the Detroit Lions to a one-year deal but injured his knee and was placed on IR. In November, he was released from injured reserve with an injury settlement and never played a single down the entire season.

He is completely healthy now and should become a plus in the tight end room for Arizona. Yeboah has ties to Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur when the coach was the Jets’ offensive coordinator in 2021-2022.

Yeboah’s career stats: 33 games played with 2 starts, 15 targets, 9 receptions, 111 yards, 6 first down conversions, 1 touchdown, 12.3 yards per catch average, 57 YAC, and 3 drops.

His calling card is that he is an excellent blocker. With LaFleur installing a run-heavy offensive scheme, extra line blockers are required.

His college scouting report on Prime Time Sports Talk:

“Yeboah’s release is not terrible, but it is not elite. Still a very raw route runner and does not have elite route-running ability. Yeboah can make contested catches. He uses his hands well in contested catch situations. Yeboah’s hands are great. Excellent pass-blocking tight end. Arguably the best pass-blocking tight end in the draft. Yeboah has good agility, can change direction well, and accelerates in the open field for his size. Will amaze you with his speed. Great competitive toughness on the field and is often seen fighting for extra yards. He will need to polish his routes.”
