Revenge of the Birds
The linebacker room for the Arizona Cardinals is a bit full, so the team released Xavier Thomas prior to this weekend’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Recently, LB B.J. Ojulari was placed back on the roster, and now word is that LB Baron Browning is ready to be released from concussion protocol. This placed a bulge in the linebacker corps. It took forever for Ojulari to return to the field and Browning has been out for two games.
Thomas was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft out of Clemson. He played sparingly on defensive packages as a rookie and was used some on special teams in 14 games. As a rookie, he had 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and one batted pass.
This year, he played quite a bit in preseason and has played in four regular-season games with zero starts, with no stats other than 15 defensive snaps and 42 special teams snaps.
