The New England Patriots picked up their sixth-straight win in Week 9, as they grinded out a 24-23 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Perhaps adding to the stakes, the team had a surprise guest on hand to watch them: popular musician Cardi B.
One of the biggest hip-hop artists in the world, Cardi B is currently in a relationship with Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs. She was seen sitting in the owner’s booth alongside Robert Kraft, who is also a good friend of the Grammy-winning rapper.
Fans were alerted to Cardi B’s presence when she was shown on the Jumbotron sitting with Kraft. A clip of her quickly went viral on social media, thanks in large part to her hitting Diggs’ popular celebration, which has been picked up by pretty much everyone on the team.
Diggs and Cardi B’s relationship has been the subject of quite a bit of media coverage, which isn’t a very big surprise when considering their combined star power. Back in September, Cardi B announced that she and Diggs are expecting a baby together.
On the field, it was another strong outing for Diggs, as he caught three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. With the win, New England has pushed its record to 7-2 on the year, which is tied with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos for the best record in the league.
The Patriots will now turn their attention to their upcoming matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10. While much has been made about New England’s easy schedule, this will provide the team a great chance to see where they stack up against one of the other top teams in the league. Kickoff for this game is set for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
