A public trade request didn’t stop Dallas Cowboys All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons from showing up to practice on Saturday.

Heading into the final season of his contract year, Micah Parsons has gotten frustrated with the lack of progress in extension talks. On Friday, he voiced his desire to be traded in a lengthy X/Twitter post.

It’s common for players to hold out and skip team activities if they’re seeking a trade or contract extension. But on Saturday, The Athletic’s Jon Machota shared a video of Parsons observing the club’s practice session:

Make of that as you will, but it’s certainly noteworthy that Micah Parsons chose to attend practice anyway. It’s at least an encouraging sign for the Cowboys in that he didn’t want to be away from his teammates.

The Cowboys kick off their 2025 season with a road game against the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 5.

Cowboys Need To Just Pay Micah Parsons

The Cowboys could do the simple thing and honor Parsons’ trade request, but the odds of getting equal value in return for one of the league’s premier defensive players are awfully slim.

Parsons has been everything the Cowboys could have asked for since his 2021 rookie year, racking up 52.5 sacks in 63 games. And with Parsons only about to enter his age-26 season, logic suggests the Cowboys are better off just meeting his asking price.
