Cameras caught Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones having a lengthy discussion with star linebacker Micah Parsons during Tuesday’s minicamp session.
Micah Parsons is entering the final season of his five-year rookie contract and has been eligible for an extension since the end of the 2023 campaign. The two sides were unable to get a deal done, however, as Jones prioritized and completed extensions with quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
Parsons was at minicamp on Tuesday but did not participate in activities due to back tightness, per ESPN’s Todd Archer.
Multiple Cowboys reporters shared photos of Jones speaking to the All-Pro linebacker during the session. The conversation reportedly lasted roughly 30 minutes, with Clarence Hill Jr. of DLLS Sports noting that Jones was the one speaking most of the time:

In March, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett signed a four-year extension worth $160 million that makes him the highest-paid defensive player in history. But since Garrett is four years older than Micah Parsons, the latter will surely get even more money on his next deal.
Parsons has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first four NFL seasons. In 63 career games, he has 52.5 sacks, nine pass breakups, nine forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
Parsons and his new-look Cowboys will look to begin the 2025 season on a high note when they visit the archrival and defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL Kickoff Game on Sept. 4 (8:20 p.m. EST). The Eagles swept the Cowboys in the season series, though Prescott missed both games.
This will be Dallas’ second appearance in an NFL Kickoff Game in five years, as they also visited Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2021 opener. Dallas fell just short of spoiling Tampa’s big celebration, however, losing 31-29 on a last-second Ryan Succop field goal.
