The Tennessee Titans are nearing the end of OTAs with mandatory minicamp kicking off on June 16. All eyes are on Cam Ward, as his development is crucial for the club’s success. However, he hasn’t quite performed at his best in the early stages of the offseason. One content creator, though, does not believe this is a sign of concern, as it appears Ward is in a similar situation as Drake Maye and Caleb Williams at this point in his career.
Justi Graver, who has been creating content for the content for several years, shared a post on X revealing headlines written about Maye’s and Williams’ offseason struggles in 2025. The New England Patriots star threw four interceptions during an OTA session, while the Chicago Bears quarterback had accuracy issues while learning Ben Johnson’s new offense.
“Drake Maye struggles with four interception day, plus other Patriots OTAs Observations,” was an article written by Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports in mid-May 2025.
“Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams has ‘concerning’ issue at minicamp: Report,” was a piece published by Jordan Sigler of Chi City Sports in early June 2025.
Cam Ward, who is 24 years old, received a similar type of headline from Titans reporter Easton Freeze of A to Z Sports on Wednesday. Freeze did admit that he does not believe the struggles are any reason for fans to start hitting the panic button.
“If I had to sum up Cam Ward’s practice on Tuesday at Titans OTA’s, I would use two words: ‘Struggle’ and ‘Clunky’… Those two words are what I used to describe his practice on Monday as well,” said Freeze. “So it was a second consecutive below-average showing for the Titans’ QB1. The usual suspects are going to use this to double, triple, and quadruple down on panic for Cam Ward being a bust in… early June. I’m entirely unmoved by this.”
While some are quick to write Ward off, as that was seemingly the case for Maye and Williams last summer, it appears early offseason struggles might be something of the norm. Besides, the Titans haven’t even practiced in pads yet, and the former No.1 overall pick is learning a completely new offensive scheme under offensive coordiantor Brian Daboll.
Expectations are high for Ward after his up-and-down rookie season. The Titans quarterback ended the 2025-26 campaign with 3,169 passing yards and 17 total touchdowns (15 passing, 2 rushing) while completing 59.8% of his pass attempts.
