Always good to hear things like this on a rookie

Albert Breer had a lot of good things to say about Cam Ward’s leadership in today’s “Takeaways” article over at SI.com. As Breer points out, this does not necessarily translate to great play on the field, but it is good to hear that Ward is already putting in extra work before he has taken an NFL snap. My stance on everything with the Tennessee Titans is that I’m not going to get too high or too low based on anything off the field. I’ve been burned too many times.

With that being said, it is hard not to get excited about the intangibles that Ward is already showing. The Titans have been burned in the past by quarterbacks who weren’t willing to put in extra work and/or take coaching to heart. If Ward does fail, it won’t be because of those issues.

It is also good to hear that he is putting that work in with the young receivers. It is so important to have everyone on the offense on the same page. Ward is working through the things that Brian Callahan wants him to work on, including his pass catchers. It will be fun to see those guys grow up in the NFL together.
