The Tennessee Titans are in Tampa Bay for two days of joint practices ahead of the first preseason game for both teams on Saturday. Cam Ward did have his first pass of the team period picked off, but he ended up having a solid day of work. In what appears to have been a two-minute situation, Paul Kuharsky said that Ward put together a methodical drive to get the Titans in field goal range:
Then, in another period, Ward got three chances from the 12-yard line and converted two of those chances into touchdowns:
There have been a lot of positive nuggets about Chimere Dike over the last two days. The biggest thing of note here is that Dike converted a short-yardage play into a touchdown. Dike ran a 4.34 at the combine. We know that speed is a big part of his game. If he can be effective in short-yardage situations as well, the Titans have a really good player on their hands.
Calvin Ridley also stood out in the joint practices with a couple of big plays, including this one:
Ridley is the clear WR1 on this team. If he plays up to his potential, they have a chance to be really good.
