Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan spoke to the media this morning ahead of a second day of joint practices with the Atlanta Falcons. He said the expectation for Friday’s preseason game is that rookie quarterback Cam Ward will play two series again. Callahan said it is important for Ward to get the on-field reps of taking the calls and getting the team in and out of the huddle. Hopefully, it won’t take two quarters to get two series like it did against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Titans are in the middle of a 10 day road trip currently. They went straight from the work last week in Tampa to Atlanta. He said it has been draining on the guys, but that is the point of training camp. He wants to see how guys respond to adversity. That’s probably part of the reason they got off to a slow start in the practices yesterday.

Callahan said he expects most everyone to play in the game against the Falcons. He did mention Jeffery Simmons and Kevin Zietler as guys who will probably be held out. Neither of those guys played against the Bucs. It makes sense to hold some of the veterans out. The reps aren’t as important to them.

The Titans and Falcons are set to take the field for another day of joint practices this morning. They will be off on Thursday before the preseason game in Atlanta on Friday night.
