If rookie quarterback Cam Ward is going to turn around the fortunes of the Tennessee Titans, the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft is going to need some help.

Thankfully, from Ward’s point of view, he’s already got a good bit of help. Especially from his wide receiver corps, which the former Miami star believes is already one of the best league.

Cam Ward Thinks The Tennessee Titans Have An Elite Wide Receiver Corps

“I think, honestly, I have a top-five receiving corps in the NFL,” Ward told reporters on Thursday. “Including the young guys, who are able to make plays, it’s really all about us, or myself, putting myself in their frame or letting them make a play, and then it’s also those guys being aggressive and making plays for the team.”

That is…very bold.

Especially one week after Ward called the Titans offense “very mid.”

The numbers don’t exactly back up Ward’s case, either. Tennessee’s presumed No. 1 wide receiver, Calvin Ridley, caught 64 passes for 1,017 yards and four touchdowns in Jacksonville a year ago. His career-best year came all the way back in 2020 with 90 catches for 1,374 yards and nine touchdowns. But he’s now on the wrong side of 30 and hasn’t come all that close to replicating those numbers.

Ward’s No. 2 receiver looks like it’ll be either 33-year-old Tyler Lockett or Van Jefferson, who also peaked in 2020 with 50 receptions and six touchdowns for the Los Angeles Rams.

The Titans Are Counting On Rookie Wide Receivers

Tennessee did address the wide receiver position in the middle of the 2025 NFL Draft. They selected both Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor in the fourth round out of Florida and Stanford, respectively.

“Those two guys are going to come up big for us this year, and I’m happy that I’m playing with them and not against them,” Ward said of the two rookies.

They also signed Ward’s college teammate, Xavier Restrepo, as an undrafted free agent. Restrepo caught 69 passes for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns in his final season with the Miami Hurricanes.

Maybe Ward knows something we don’t. But it feels like Tennessee is far more likely to have a bottom-five receiver group in 2025 than it is a top-five one.
