Jeff Howe of The Athletic is reporting that Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward suffered a Grade 3 AC joint sprain in his right shoulder. Ward suffered the injury on a first-quarter touchdown run in the Titansโ 41-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mike McCoy said after the game that additional testing will be done on Wardโs shoulder when the team returns to Nashville.
The only upside here is that the injury comes in the final game of the season. That gives Ward the entire offseason to heal. Friend of the site, Mike Herndon, provided some medical insight on the timeline for Wardโs recovery:
As Mike said, if Ward does need surgery, he will be out four to six months. That would keep him out of OTAs, which is a pretty big deal considering the Titans will be using that time to install a new offense with a new head coach. Either way, itโs a setback for Ward because he really needs to spend time this offseason working on his footwork, because that was the biggest struggle he had during his rookie season.
My guess is that they will opt for surgery to make sure that everything is 100% when he is back on the field when the 2026 season kicks off, but that is just pure speculation on my part.
