PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward honored T.J. Watt by using his vintage sack celebration in Monday night’s win over the Miami Dolphins.
Heyward said he, Nick Herbig and Alex Highsmith agreed that if they got a sack, they’d use T.J. Watt’s sack celebration.
He also didn’t think he did it very well. “I don’t think I got my leg up high enough.”
Watt suffered a partially collapsed lung last Wednesday after undergoing a dry needling procedure following his workout at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. He was taken to a local hospital and had a procedure to repair the injury, and was released.

Watt missed the team’s Week 15 home game against the Dolphins on Monday Night Football, and while head coach Mike Tomlin didn’t rule Watt out for next week’s contest against the Detroit Lions, he also didn’t provide much of an update on his status.
“I’ve got no new news on T.J.,” Tomlin said. “I’m sure I will a later in the week, but I haven’t heard any new updates regarding his availability or what that looks like as he starts to work his way back to us.”
The Steelers were 1-11 in games without Watt prior to Monday night’s win. Heyward thought a lot of guys stepped up in Watt’s absence.
“”Obviously, we miss T.J. [Watt], but I think we had other guys step up,” the defensive captain said. “In the past, we have not really had Alex [Highsmith], Nick [Herbig], Jack [Sawyer] to kind of make up that collective, but you know, it’s not a one-man team. It’s not a one-man defense. We all got to thrive and we all got to play our best ball in December.”
Nick Herbig suffered a hamstring injury against the Dolphins, so his status will be something to monitor on a short week. The Steelers very well could be limited at OLB against Detroit.
