I think it’s safe to say the Steelers star is not the biggest fan of the newest Steelers throwbacks.
The Pittsburgh Steelers unveiled new uniforms for the 2025 season that will be worn in week seven against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. The jersey and pants will be a version of the 1933 uniforms that will feature a gold helmet, which the team has not worn in over a decade. With the announcement of the uniforms, people around the internet and players have had mixed reviews of the newest Steelers throwbacks.
Cam Heyward has been one of the more outspoken Steelers players over the last few years, and he certainly did not shy away from giving his thoughts on the 1933 throwbacks on his “Not Just Football” podcast.
“Yellow helmet, check,” Heyward said. “Jersey, check. Pants. Those pants, man, they look like throw up.” Heyward said. “I love that we’re trying something new, but this is the problem we have with the bumblebees. I think the bumblebees would have looked fire if you had black pants. I think this jersey would have been fired if you had, you know, black pants. Or even, like, I hate to go full yellow, but like, you could have done some remix in there as well.”
Despite Heyward not being a fan of the tan pants, they are traditional with these particular jerseys. The Steelers take great pride in honoring their traditions and rich history, and for good reason. The Steelers last wore these uniforms in 1994.
