The Bears QB was in attendance at the Bulls loss to the Miami Heat.
There wasn’t much to cheer about on Wednesday night at the United Center.
For the third consecutive year, the Chicago Bulls lost in a play-in game to end their 2024-2025 season. There were glimmers of hope, however.
No, we aren’t talking about Matas Buzelis. This is a Chicago Bears website, after all. Though best wishes go out to Buzelis and the Bulls in trying to turn around the franchise.
What we’re referring to is the fact that Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams was in attendance at the game. And at one point, someone tossed him a football. Williams proceeded to sign the pigskin before throwing it deep into the United Center, never to be seen again.
Was that the farthest a football has been thrown inside of a Chicago sports arena since the Bears defeated the Portsmouth Spartans in a December 1932 playoff game at Chicago Stadium?
Well, that game ended 9-0 with zero touchdown passes, so honestly, Caleb’s throw probably exceeded anything back in 1932. Apologies to Keith Molesworth.
By all accounts, Williams was also extremely accommodating to the fans in attendance at the game. He signed several autographs and posed for selfies with fans.
Hats off to Caleb. At least there was something positive happening at the United Center on Wednesday night.
