Quarterback Caleb Williams made history by becoming the first-ever player of the Chicago Bears to be featured on the cover of Madden NFL.
The cover of the 2027 edition of the highly popular video game was officially released by EA Sports on Tuesday, showing Williams attempting to pass the ball with the Chicago skyline in the background.
Williams said it was a “full-circle moment” and a dream come true to be on the cover, joining other legendary signal-callers like Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Michael Vick, Donovan McNabb, Vince Young, and Patrick Mahomes, among others.
Bears coach Ben Johnson was flatly unimpressed with Williams’ latest milestone, although it is possible that he was just being sarcastic.
The Athletic’s Dan Wiederer, however, shared that Williams’ teammates loved his viral cover.
“It’s tough. I told him he has to sign mine. Definitely proud of him for that. I’m honored to be on a team with someone who is on the Madden cover,” said cornerback Tyrique Stevenson.
“The caliber of player he is, the plays he made last year, the games he was able to help us win, it was a no-brainer who should have been on it,” added guard Jonah Jackson.
The 24-year-old quarterback is among the young stars of the NFL. Last season, he led the Bears to the NFC North title with an 11-6 record. Chicago ended a four-year drought in the playoffs.
Williams, the No. 1 pick in 2024, set a franchise record with 3,942 passing yards. He threw for 31 touchdowns and rushed for 388 yards, resulting in three touchdowns.
The former Heisman Trophy winner has an overall rating of 90 in Madden NFL 27.
