Maybe he won’t team up with Aaron Rodgers a third time.

There has been some talk about the Jets potentially trying to trade wide receiver Allen Lazard to the Steelers after Pittsburgh signed Aaron Rodgers. Lazard goes back with Rodgers having caught passes from him with both the Packers and the Jets.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk mentions that Lazard might not be excited about a potential reunion.

Per a source with knowledge of Lazard’s thinking, he sees a very real potential benefit to proving his ability to function at an acceptable level without Rodgers as his quarterback. With the Jets planning a run-heavy offense under new coach Aaron Glenn (and new quarterback Justin Fields), there’s a premium on receiver blocking. At six feet, five inches and 225 pounds, Lazard fits that role perfectly.

Well that isn’t exactly definitive.

At the end of the day, Lazard’s wishes only matter so much. Players aren’t often consulted about being traded. It’s about what is best for the team.

Despite Lazard’s blocking ability in what should be a run oriented offense, I wouldn’t hesitate to trade him if Pittsburgh offered anything for his services. Lazard doesn’t figure to be with the Jets past this season, and his expected production for this year’s team is limited. Even a late round pick could have more value for the team in the long run.
