Any way you slice it, that was an ugly half of football. At halftime, the Buffalo Bills trail the Philadelphia Eagles 13-0 in a messy game that truthfully could be a lot worse on the scoreboard.

Interestingly, despite the dreadful weather, both teams have not strayed away from throwing the football. Quarterback Josh Allen finally found a catch partner down the field, with Brandin Cooks hauling in a 50-yard field stretcher. Unfortunately, Buffalo did nada with that good fortune, instead watching Allen fumble the ball backwards and to Philly.

Apart from that, the Bills have played some sloppy, nondescript football through 30 minutes. Perhaps the latter is intentional to avoid giving the Eagles an up-close look at anything important should they meet later in the playoffs. Maybe? Maybe.

It’s been a game full of frustration, and too many contentious officiating moments. The refs set the tone by tossing a flag on the opening kickoff, and then continuing to defy expected rulings later on. It’s not going to get easier for the Bills in the second half. They need to show some physicality and quick if they hope to make things tough on the Patriots and the rest of the AFC playoff field next week. Does it matter? Choose your own adventure.

A win today could also mean Buffalo heads to Maryland for a date with the Baltimore Ravens during Super Wild Card Weekend.

With that, here’s your open thread for the rest of today’s game. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
