Buffalo Bills vs. New York Giants: Preseason Week 1 open thread
Buffalo Rumblings Buffalo Rumblings

We’ve finally made it, Bills Mafia! Well… to preseason football at least. This afternoon the Buffalo Bills host the New York Giants for only home exhibition game in 2025. With that comes the team’s annual Kids Day at the stadium, which always proves to be a summer highlight for Bills-centric families.

As for the on-field action, quarterback Josh Allen will not take organized snaps this afternoon. The rest of the starters who are able and available to suit up will reportedly play around a quarter of action. What that ultimately entails is up to head coach Sean McDermott who, along with the rest of the team’s coaches, has plenty to evaluate roster-wide.

Among the players to keep a close eye on, wide receiver Keon Coleman likely tops most peoples’ lists. What will Coleman’s second season bring to the offense? Some may tune in just to see what’s going on with running back James Cook, who decided to “hold-in” to end training camp at St. John Fisher University amid a continued contract hunt.

Kicker Tyler Bass won’t play, with newly signed rookie kicker Caden Davis set to make his NFL debut. It remains to be seen how severe Bass’ pelvic injury is, and if it would have kept him out were this a regular-season game. Be sure to keep an eye out for right tackle Spencer Brown, who made his way back to the gridiron during the latter half of training camp following a reported “flare-up” of a back injury. How he performs and to what extent he plays should give us an early indicator about his conditioning and return to health.

There are so many reasons to tune in this afternoon if you’re a diehard Bills fan. From the intense battles in both the wide receivers and defensive backs rooms, to how a once-again remade defensive line looks. There’s also plenty of interest among fans to see how the quarterback situation behind Allen shakes out. Oh, and of course there’s the pregame, in-game, and postgame interactions between McDermott and Giants head coach Brian Daboll.

Here’s your open thread for this afternoon’s preseason action. As always, be kind to one another, and in all things… Go Bills!
