The Buffalo Bills have announced a series of roster moves ahead of their playoff matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, January 11. Notably, veteran cornerback Dane Jackson was signed to the 53-man active roster.

Adding Jackson all but guarantees that rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston won’t be available to play on Sunday. Hairston suffered an ankle injury late in the fourth quarter of Buffalo’s Week 18 game against the New York Jets.

Jackson knows the system but it remains to be seen what he brings to the field from a physical standpoint at this stage of his career. If Jackson plays, he’s likely to be rotated in to spell cornerback Tre’Davious White — the latter of whom should be expected to play the lion’s share of snaps on the boundary opposite cornerback Christian Benford.

To make room for Jackson, the Bills placed defensive tackle Jordan Phillips on Injured Reserve, which effectively ends his 2025 season. That means rookie defensive tackles Deone Walker and T.J. Sanders should get plenty of snaps for what will be their first playoff game.

Buffalo also made a pair of moves with the practice squad, welcoming back quarterback Shane Buechele who was on the practice squad all season before signing to the Kansas City Chiefs’ active roster for a few weeks. Cornerback Daryl Porter Jr. (who spent the summer with Buffalo) was also signed to the practice squad.
