The Bills land a productive and consistent developmental target for Josh Allen and the offense.
The Buffalo Bills closed out their portion of the 2025 NFL Draft by selecting wide receiver Kaden Prather out of the University of Maryland. A surprising pick for Buffalo in Round 7, Prather is a tall receiver with good size, standing 6’3 1/2” and weighing 204 pounds.
Prather is a long strider who possesses good deep speed, but he’s not a velocity merchant by definition. He’s more fast than quick, more similar to a 1969 Dodge Daytona than a Formula 1 race car. At the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, Prather clocked 4.48 seconds in the 40-yard dash, a 1.53-second 10-yard split, 30” vertical, and 9’6” in the broad jump.
In four years between West Virginia and Maryland, in 48 games Prather caught a total of 162 passes for 1,966 yards with 12 touchdowns, while adding 35 rushing yards on two attempts. (Stats and below image courtesy of Sports Reference.)
Prader’s production in college shows a consistent prospect with decent production in three consecutive seasons. At this stage, he’s likely battling for one of the final roster spots this summer or, failing that, a place on Buffalo’s practice squad to continue refining and expanding his route tree.
With that, the Bills now turn their attention to undrafted free agency, and perhaps those remaining NFL veteran free agents.
