For several years now, the Buffalo Bills have held an open-to-the-public, complementary practice known as “The Return of the Blue & Red” at their home stadium in the midst of training camp at St. John Fisher University. The event has served as a fantastic community builder for Bills Mafia, many of whom often find themselves unable to attend training camp over an hour away east in Pittsford, NY.

With a new era and a brand-new Highmark Stadium, comes a change to the “Blue & Red” practice. Instead of it being an event open to the general public, where before ticket requests were submitted, now the event will be made exclusive for season ticket holders, per a report by Ryan Talbot that details an email sent to season-ticket holders.

Within that email was a key bit of information:

“Every season ticket member will receive their seats for the Blue & Red event on Saturday, August 8th. This is a season ticket member event only now. Not a general admission event like it has been in the past.”

There are cases to be made for and against this move, which Talbot points out will function as the “first event at the new Highmark Stadium.” It’s generous of the franchise to acknowledge their season-ticket holders, especially given the financial commitment made by so many in purchasing PSLs.

That said, there’s also a huge segment of the fan base unable to afford season tickets, and who now find themselves likely shut out of a free event at the new stadium. That is to say “likely” because there’s always the potential for season-ticket holders to transfer their tickets to others for this event.

Despite this change, the Bills are reportedly set to host “smaller” community events that will allow the general public an opportunity to get a first-hand look at the new Highmark Stadium, per The Buffalo News:

The Bills will hold smaller events in June and July to introduce members of the community to state-of-the-art facility. They’ll have an opportunity to see the 360-degree canopy, entertainment spaces, upgraded suites, wide-open concourses, red-and-blue gradient-designed seats and massive video boards.”
