Cook is the first Bills player named to this season’s list

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook has been named one of the top 100 players in the NFL for 2025, a testament to the campaign he put together in 2024. As the lead back in a potent three-headed attack, Cook made the most of every opportunity in 2024.

Cook finished the regular season with 1,009 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns on 207 carries, adding 32 receptions (38 targets) for 238 yards and two receiving touchdowns, per Pro Football Reference. For his efforts as co-leader in rushing touchdowns for the 2024 NFL Season, Cook was named a 2025 Pro Bowl alternate.

Cook is the first Bills player to be named to the NFL’s Top 100 players of 2025, and he lands at number 89. In Buffalo’s final game of last season — the AFC Championship game — Cook was a near-unstoppable force early on, operating as a fully potent complement to quarterback Josh Allen. His performance (13 carries, 85 yards, 2 TDs; 3 catches on 3 targets for 49 yards) left many in Bills Mafia wondering why one of the best players on the team wasn’t part of the offensive game plan in crunch time, pass protection concerns notwithstanding.

This is the first time Cook has been named to the NFL Top 100 players list, and the timing couldn’t be better with him looking for a new contract ahead of what would be his first foray into free agency. What’s in store for Cook in 2025, and will he see a contract extension with the club that selected him in Round 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft?

You can be certain Cook won’t be the only Buffalo Bill to make this list, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see who else is named and when.
