Buffalo Rumblings
Well, that was awful. There’s no sugar-coating things right now. This is unacceptable football out of the Buffalo Bills. Those of you looking for a silver lining can hang your hat on the fact that Buffalo is really only down two touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions — that’s two possessions. There’s also a second half to play.
The same Bills that looked unstoppable in victory over the Kansas City Chiefs a weekend ago just played an entirely uninspired and sloppy first half in humid Miami. Someone needs to wake quarterback Josh Allen up, quick. That’s clearly not the job for any of the team’s wide receivers, who continue struggling to separate and now unable to catch the football.
Honestly, no one’s really played well enough to highlight. Running back James Cook looks nothing like the MVP-worthy player he’s been this season. Josh Allen looks like he’s back in pumpkin season, rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston is struggling, and the defense has far too many injuries to do much beyond what we’ve seen.
Just 83 total yards on offense for Buffalo in the first half. Wake up, and quick.
When Allen’s part of the story, a comeback is always on the table. But the Dolphins have come to play, intent on making a statement that embarrasses these Bills at the same time. So far, that plan is working nearly perfectly. If Buffalo can’t make a comeback to put away a team that has little business spoiling their season, it might be wise to hold off on those postseason plans for a bit.
Here’s your second-half thread for the remainder of Bills-Dolphins, Bout 2. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
