Buffalo Rumblings
It’s been a rough week for fans of the Buffalo Bills with their AFC East title chances dwindling to “slim” and feeling like “none.” The fourth deflating loss of the season on Thursday Night Football was no fun for anyone.
Looking at the grand scheme of things though, it could be much worse during this season of thanks. I’m thankful we have a team that’s been so good and (mostly) fun to watch. I’m thankful we have some genuine role models to gravitate toward. I’m always thankful for the spirit of community the team brings. Not bad for “it’s just a game.”
When it comes to those undergoing surgery or undergoing emergency care, the need for blood is more than a game. A blood donation can be a literal life saver. This week the Buffalo Bills are continuing their longstanding partnership with ConnectLife and hosting a blood drive right at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY.
In addition to making a difference and the warm feeling of pride you’ll feel, your hands will be literally warmer after your donation as all donors will receive a pair of Buffalo Bills gloves as pictured above. I already have my pair and they’re even more awesome than the picture can show you.
I got my gloves over the weekend at one of their donation centers. Heading to the stadium might also lead to other perks. Donors will be entered into a drawing for game tickets to what could be the final game at the OG Highmark Stadium. Ever. Drawings for a Josh Allen autographed jersey or a Greg Rousseau helmet are pretty great too.
I’ve checked the appointment log and whole blood donations are mostly full, but there are plenty of spots for double red cell donors. Be like Skare and double the red cell count if you’re lucky enough to have certain blood types (I’m A- so I know that one qualifies).
Can’t make it to the stadium on Wednesday? This handy appointment finder can help you find a different day to go. With multiple donation centers available as well as mobile drives, there’s likely an option for you. The need for blood is ongoing so missing this week won’t decrease the demand. If you’re wondering, ConnectLife’s supply is used locally, so the blood you give could be used to help someone you know.
Do you bleed blue? Come prove it!
