Buffalo Rumblings
Buffalo Bills fans have been very down on offensive coordinator Joe Brady during the 2025 season despite the offense being near the top of the league in every metric and sporting the league’s leading rusher in James Cook. Well, the Baltimore Ravens are very high on Brady and have requested an interview for their vacant head coach job.
Brady interviewed for the Jacksonville Jaguars head coach job but lost to Liam Coen in 2025. He was also linked to the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets at the time.
The Bills don’t have an obvious in-house replacement for Brady should he get the job. Tight ends coach Rob Boras has previous experience as an offensive coordinator with the Jeff Fisher Rams in late 2015 and 2016. He has been with the Bills as TE coach since 2017.
Offensive line coach Aaron Kromer was the Chicago Bears OC in 2013 and 2014, but head coach Marc Trestman called the plays. He has been the OL coach since 2022 when Brain Daboll hired away Bobby Johnson to the New York Giants.
Quarterbacks coach is usually a place where folks look as a stepping stone to the offensive coordinator role. Ronald Curry serves that role and joined Buffalo in 2024 after Brady was promoted to offensive coordinator. Curry was with the Saints from 2016 to 2023, working beside Brady during 2017 and 2018. Despite his time in the system, he was never promoted to offensive coordinator in New Orleans despite heavy turnover there.
Another stepping stone to offensive coordinator is usually passing game coach, but the Bills list Marc Lubick in that role as a “specialist” not “coordinator”. He’s pretty green for the position.
Brian Daboll, Buffalo’s former offensive coordinator, is available after being fired as the New York Giants head coach. It’s unclear if he would return to Buffalo. He has a great relationship with QB Josh Allen, but I never got the sense that Daboll and Sean McDermott were on the same page to the point where it might be a slam dunk return.
Ken Dorsey is likely going to be on the market after the Cleveland Browns’ coaching staff overhaul, but it’s unlikely he would return after McDermott fired him a few years ago.
Kansas City Chiefs pass game coordinator Joe Bleymaier worked on the same staff as McDermott with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009.
Former Bills QB coach David Culley hasn’t worked in the NFL since being fired as the Houston Texans head coach following the 2021 season.
