Buffalo Rumblings
The results are in! Hold your horses, for we’re not quite ready to circle those wagons, Bills Mafia. Despite the fact that the Buffalo Bills shellacked the Pittsburgh Steelers during the most important half of football, a fair amount of Rumblings readers remain skeptical of the results according to our most recent Reacts survey.
We’ve already gone over the fact that many fans aren’t going to buy in to this team’s chances until they prove it in the postseason. To do that, however, the Bills need to also prove their worth in the regular season. Getting there? It’s no guarantee, and that’s not because Buffalo is a bad team. It’s a strange season in the NFL, and one where several surprise teams are looking to push down long-standing powerhouses.
Will that be the Bills come January? A lot of that depends on the offense, and how the passing game looks and performs. Truth be told, that’s probably what’s behind the lack of confidence at the moment.
Right now, just 27% of votes rang confident in Buffalo and the direction of the team under head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane. Week 14’s result against the Cincinnati Bengals could sway votes in next week’s poll. Maybe.
Moving on, let’s check in with readers over at Cincy Jungle to see how they feel about the Bengals’ chances. It’s a little better over that way, little doubt due to the return of quarterback Joe Burrow. If Burrow can keep the injuries woes behind him, a 4-8 Cincinnati team could make some noise before the playoff picture is finalized.
Yet right now, 56% of voters remain confident in the Bengals despite a bleak playoff outlook.
In national polls, voters were asked to weigh in on future winners for each of the eight divisions. We only care about the AFC East here, right? So let’s see what’s what on that front. It’s more bad news for Bills Mafia, as most folks (81%) believe the New England Patriots will win the AFC East in 2025. That schedule. Honestly, the Patriots could find their way to keeping the one seed in the AFC playoff race, which would mean the postseason runs through Foxborough.
How do you like them apples, Newton?
Voters were also once again asked to pick Week 14 winners, with the majority choosing the Buffalo Bills to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals.
