Buffalo Bills game-day food: Tampa Bay-inspired Dirty Soda
Buffalo Rumblings Buffalo Rumblings

Whether it’s tailgating or homegating, fans of the Buffalo Bills are known to be elite tier when it comes to food. Wingin’ It returns for it’s eighth season of Mad Hatter-esque recipes taking inspiration from the Buffalo Bills and their opponents.

Dirty Soda

Last week I mentioned that I don’t know if I do enough desserts with these recipes. What’s even more glaring is that I pretty much never do a truly kid-friendly recipe. I’m not just talking one they might enjoy. I have plenty of those (like these things). A truly kid-friendly recipe is one that they can do on their own. This key lime-inspired dirty soda checks all the boxes.

For the Buffalo element, I’m promoting Pepsi® by name due to some decent ties to Western New York including local bottling facilities and being the official soda of the NFL, which includes the Buffalo Bills.

Dirty Soda

Serves: 1
Active Time: 1 minute
Total Time: 2 minutes

Ingredients

Crushed ice
1 can (12 oz) Pepsi®
1 tsp sweetened lime juice
2 tsp coconut cream
Lime slices or wedges (optional)

You will need: A fun glass, straws aren’t a bad idea, small glass for mixing
  1. Add crushed ice to glass, about two-thirds (2/3) full.
  2. Pour Pepsi® over ice, leaving a little room at the top.
  3. In a separate small glass, mix sweetened lime juice and coconut cream together.
  4. Pour lime juice and coconut cream into Pepsi®.
  5. Enjoy!

Wingin’ It Tips

I have one tip this week, and also this is a good excuse to show off Darby again. I’m not a big fan of diluting beverages, but ice is a good call for this. The sweetened lime juice and cream of coconut will lead to some nucleation (the term for what happens when you toss stuff like Mentos or Smarties into soda). The crushed ice will significantly reduce this effect.
