The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Sean McDermott following their heartbreaking playoff exit.
The Bills endured multiple disappointing postseason runs under McDermott’s tenure as their HC. And they have decided to part ways in the wake of Saturday’s loss.
McDermott watched the Bills lose to the Denver Broncos in overtime, playing out to one of the most bizarre endings. A controversial interception sealed their fate, leaving him incredulous.
The 51-year-old tore into the referees after the loss, yet it’s done little to help his case.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who cites a source, the team has since cut ties.
Schefter has since reported that McDermott could be a candidate for NFL teams with head coaching vacancies, as he intends to continue coaching.
“Former Bills HC Sean McDermott could well emerge as a head coaching candidate for some teams that now have an opening. McDermott told his staff today that he intends to continue coaching,” the insider notes.
McDermott was hired by the Bills in 2017. He leaves with a 98-50 regular-season record.
