After tonight, there’s just two weeks left on the 2025 NFL regular-season schedule. To wrap up Week 16, we get a Monday Night Football matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers that should hold everyone’s interests.

If you’re looking for Buffalo Bills-related playoff rooting interests, the task is simple: With a Colts loss, the Bills clinch a playoff spot. There’s also the matter of the 2025 NFL rushing title up for grabs, with Bills running back James Cook III (1,532) now in the lead by just 89 rushing yards over Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (1,443).

The 8-6 Colts have had a season built for a movie script, where they jumped out to a 7-1 start and looked invincible the first half of the season before injury began to take hold of things. Indianapolis is now without quarterback Daniel Jones, an almost sure bet to be named comeback player of the year before a lower leg injury slowed him ahead of a torn Achilles that ended his season. What did the Colts go and do? They called Philip Rivers out of retirement, and… he looked pretty darn good for a 44-year old quarterback who hadn’t taken an NFL snap in five seasons.

Don’t ask the 10-4 Niners to feel sorry for Indy, since they also know how much impact injuries can have on a season. However, the Niners weathered the early storm of quarterback Brock Purdy’s toe injury thanks to the play of backup quarterback Mac Jones and a solid roster in total.

Unfortunately for the Colts, they welcome a 49ers team still playing for the NFC West and the top seed in the NFC. Indianapolis is just trying to avoid adding the final nails to their collapse of a season.

It’s “Go Niners” time this evening! With that, here’s your open thread for Colts-49ers and Week 16 of MNF. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
