The Buffalo Bills elevated two players from the practice squad for Week 16, announcing that they used call-ups on kicker Michael Badgley and defensive end Andre Jones Jr.

Jones, 27, will be active for the second consecutive week. He played 16 special teams snaps in last weekend’s 35-31 victory over the New England Patriots. He did not appear on defense, and he didn’t record a statistic other than snaps played in the game. Buffalo has four active defensive ends on the 53-man roster, with Joey Bosa, A.J. Epenesa, Greg Rousseau, and Javon Solomon are all healthy.

Defensive tackle T.J. Sanders, a rookie has also been playing on the edge while the Bills have been without prized free-agent acquisition Michael Hoecht, who tore his Achilles tendon in Buffalo’s victory over the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this season. Jones has one practice-squad elevation remaining.

Badgley, 30, will be making his Bills debut on Sunday. He’ll step in for Matt Prater, who is out with a quad injury he suffered during last week’s win over New England. Badgley kicked for the Indianapolis Colts in seven games this season, converting 10-of-11 field goal attempts and 18-of-21 extra point attempts this season. Of his 10 field goal makes, two of them came from 50 yards or longer, as did his one miss.

For his career, Badgley is 108-for-130 on field goal tries (83.1%) with a long of 59 yards. He has made 186-of-196 extra-point tries in his career. Badgley has two more practice-squad elevations remaining, so the Bills can call him up in each of their remaining regular-season games if they need him.

Before his injury, Prater had been outstanding this season, making 18-of-20 field goal tries with a long of 52 yards. He’s made 43-of-46 extra-point attempts this season.
