Longtime NFL offensive line coach Aaron Kromer, who spent the last four years with the Buffalo Bills, is calling it a career.

Per Michael Silver of The Athletic, Aaron Kromer “is expected to retire” after Buffalo’s gut-wrenching AFC Divisional Round loss to the Denver Broncos.

One bit of news: Bills OL coach Aaron Kromer is expected to retire following yesterday's defeat. Has had a long and impressive coaching career.

Kromer’s coaching career began in 1990 as a graduate assistant for the Miami RedHawks. He made the jump to the NFL in 2001, becoming an assistant offensive line coach for the Oakland Raiders.

He also had stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams. Aaron Kromer was the Saints’ interim head coach for six games in 2012, with Sean Payton suspended the entire season. After serving his suspension, Joe Vitt took over as the interim HC.

Kromer won a Super Bowl 46 ring as the Saints’ offensive line coach in 2009. He had a two-year stint as the Bears’ offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014, too.

Aaron Kromer Had An Excellent Stint As Bills’ OL Coach

Kromer’s retirement definitely stings the Bills. He did an excellent job building up a strong offensive line there, with superstar running back James Cook taking his game to another level.

In 2023, Cook became the first Bills player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season since 2017. He won the rushing title with 1,621 yards this season, per Pro Football Reference.

The offensive line was an issue early in Allen’s career. But over the 2023 and 2024 seasons, he was sacked 38 total times. That included just 14 sacks alone in his MVP-winning campaign a year ago.
