Buffalo Rumblings
The Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots are set to do battle today in a pivotal game for the AFC Playoff race. With a win, the Patriots can clinch the AFC East. With a Buffalo victory, the jar door remains ever-so-slightly ajar for the Bills to extend their franchise-record streak of divisional titles.
The scenarios are clear: in order to win their sixth consecutive AFC East title, the Bills need to run the table and hope that New England loses to either the New York Jets or the Miami Dolphins. Granted, the Bills could lose one game—not today’s—and hope for the Patriots to lose to both Miami and the Jets, but that seems like a fairly unlikely scenario. Regardless, the first step of that journey begins today, as a loss for the Bills hands the division back to New England regardless of what happens in the season’s final three weeks.
