Buffalo Rumblings
The Buffalo Bills are lucky to have a 10-7 lead on the Jacksonville Jaguars at halftime. Through 30 minutes, Buffalo hasn’t completely resembled the team most of Bills Mafia grew accustomed to watching in 2025. That’s not to say they’ve played off or poorly. It’s just that today has been all about Buffalo’s passing offense instead of its run game — thanks, no doubt, to that top-ranked run defense of the Jags.
Beyond luck, the Bills are incredibly fortunate that quarterback Josh Allen is still on the field, and still standing. Allen entered today’s game with a foot injury that he’ll have to just play with this postseason, but Allen has hit and on the ground early and often, and a frequent vistor to the medical tent. Allen has been observed for a concussion (cleared), then later a nasty looking right hand injury after hitting his lineman’s helmet. To top it off, while running in a touchdown, Allen appeared to hurt his knee.
But… Allen is a warrior and his teammates need to rally around his play.
A few things stand out through 30 minutes: Linebacker Shaq Thompson came to play, with an interception, a massive stop of quarterback Trevor Lawrence on a 4th & 2 scramble near Buffalo’s goal line to prevent any points off a turnover, and then later a near second interception. Thompson has been huge in the first half. Also impressive was wide receiver Keon Coleman’s 36-yard catch to set up the Bills’ first touchdown.
That officiating mess at the end of the half deserves a featured article. Jacksonville should not have been given an opportunity to try for three points — and it’s pretty fun that they missed in the end. At no point, was the fact that an official got in defensive end Joey Bosa’s way while trying to get onsides addressed.
Running back James Cook III may not get going today, so Buffalo needs to make up for that in the passing game. Allen is dialed in, and he’s shown up in a big way. It’s time for the rest of the team to rise to the challenge. Can they do it?
We’re about to find out. With that, here’s your open thread for the rest of Bills-Jaguars, playoff edition. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
