After making the Tampa Bay Buccaneers walk the plank to the tune of a 44-32 beatdown, the Buffalo Bills have very little time to prepare for their Week 12 road game against the Houston Texans. It’s not an ideal spot for Buffalo to be in due to the importance carried in every AFC matchup, but the playing field will at least be even thanks to the Texans also playing a game this past Sunday.

Entering the matchup for Week 12 of Thursday Night Football, FanDuel Sportsbook had the 7-3 Bills as 4.5-point (-4.5) road favorites over the 5-5 Texans. The over/under was set at O/U 43.5.

Each side has one major question to answer regrading the roster. Will wide receiver Keon Coleman suit up for Buffalo, and will starting quarterback C.J. Stroud be healed enough to play for Houston?

These teams most recently met in Week 5 of the 2024 NFL season, in a game that stands out as one of quarterback Josh Allen’s worst individual performances. It was the first game in which the Bills faced wide receiver Stefon Diggs since trading him to the Texans in March of 2024.

Allen was erratic all afternoon, completing just nine of 30 pass attempts for 131 yards and a touchdown. The numbers don’t even reveal the true harried nature of Allen that day. Buffalo lost that game 23-20, thanks to last-second heroics by Houston kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn — who made a 59-yard field goal at the end of regulation. In total, the Texans outgained the Bills 425 yards to 276, and Buffalo was held to 3-of-14 on third down while being forced to punt eight times.

Odds for the Week 12 matchup have already changed due largely to the status of quarterback C.J. Stroud, who could miss his third-consecutive game due to lingering concussion symptoms.

As of publishing, the Bills are 5.5-point (-5.5) point favorites.
