The Buffalo Bills have yet to play in Week 5, but they got some help around the league and as of this moment, they are the last undefeated team in the NFL. The 1972 Miami Dolphins need to watch all the Bills games now. The Denver Broncos used a late two-point conversion to take the lead on the previously undefeated Philadelphia Eagles, and Philly couldn’t overcome the deficit.
Being the last undefeated team in the NFL isn’t an indicator of success, though, at least recently. The last time the Super Bowl champ was the final unbeaten team was the 2006 Indianapolis Colts. The 2024 Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl, and eight of the final undefeated teams since 2006 made the Super Bowl but lost.
The 1972 Miami Dolphins are the only undefeated team in NFL history. The 2007 New England Patriots completed an undefeated regular season but lost in the Super Bowl to the New York Giants.
The Buffalo Bills are the last undefeated team in the NFL for the first time since 1980. That team finished 11-5 and lost in the Divisional round of the playoffs after finishing 11-5. They were also the last unbeaten team in 1964 and won the AFL Championship.
