The Bills continue making changes along the defensive line, adding Harris and releasing DT Devin Brandt-Epps.

The Buffalo Bills haven’t put the finishing touches on their offseason roster just yet, with news from the team that defensive tackle Marcus Harris has been added to the defensive line room. With Buffalo, Harris will wear number “72.”

Originally drafted by the Houston Texans in Round 7 of the 2024 NFL Draft, Harris eventually spent his rookie season as part of the New England Patriots’ practice squad. Harris played 47 games in five seasons of college football between Kansas and Auburn, notching 11.5 sacks and 31.5 tackles for loss among a total of 126 tackles.

In the lead-up to the draft, the 6’2”, 286-pound Senior Bowl invite posted middling athletic numbers at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, as shared by NFL Draft Buzz. His recorded time of 5.06 in the 40-yard dash and additional explosive testing measurements seemed to reveal a player who would lack desired dynamism at the pro level.

What Harris does bring is heft and strength, and someone the Bills may be looking at this summer to help shore up the run defense. Harris likely has an uphill battle to break the starting lineup, but there may never be a better opportunity in Buffalo than the 2025 offseason. To make room for Harris, the Bills released defensive tackle Devin Brandt-Epps.
