The Bills enter Phase 3 of their offseason program on Friday, May 9.
The Buffalo Bills have entered Phase 3 of their 2025 offseason program. With that, they officially welcome the team’s rookie class to One Bills Drive, which includes nine drafted players, 12 undrafted free-agent rookie signings, and 10 unsigned rookies who’ve been invited to tryout for the team over the course of the weekend.
Below, catch up on all the rookies in town beginning Friday, May 9. You will likely recall that it was during this point last season when linebacker Joe Andreessen became a household name, and began his successful quest to make Buffalo’s roster as an unheralded rookie minicamp tryout.
Below, you’ll notice Buffalo has invited an unsigned rookie quarterback to take part in this weekend’s minicamp. As Bills reporter Sal Capaccio pointed out, the Bills have four quarterbacks under contract and an established pecking order. None of those four are eligible to participate in rookie minicamp.
So while it’s unlikely Canadian rookie quarterback Taylor Elgersma (out of Wilfrid Laurier) makes much noise in upsetting the back end of Buffalo’s quarterback roster, his attendance is vitally important to the camp. Without Elgersma, the team would have scant live-arm options (outside of coaches and team personnel with prior quarterback experience).
The same is true elsewhere on the roster, where center Connor McGovern, long snapper Reid Ferguson, and every running back and punter signed and on the current roster aren’t eligible to participate in this weekend’s camp. The team needs to bring in as much position-group personnel as possible via unsigned rookies to offset those unique positions where no drafted or UDFA signings were made.
The Bills currently have two spots open on their roster (offensive tackle Travis Clayton doesn’t count toward the total as an International Pathway Program Player). Once the team’s bus tour of the greater Buffalo area and Niagara Falls has wrapped up and the weekend is over, will any of the guys listed below land a spot on Buffalo’s offseason roster and beyond?
