The Bucs could replace Liam Coen with Nate Scheelhaase

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost former Rams OC Liam Coen to the Jaguars last week and they are going right back to the same source for his replacement: The Bucs completed a second interview with Nate Scheelhaase on Monday, the current Rams offensive assistant/pass game specialist.

Scheelhaase would be a quick study under McVay though, as he only arrived in 2024 after spending the previous six years at Iowa State.

The Bucs are also considering Chargers pass game coordinator Marcus Brady and 28-year-old Kevin O’Connell assistant Grant Udinski for their open OC role. Though Udinski did not work for the Rams, he would at least have learned from O’Connell, the offensive coordinator who preceded Coen with the Rams.

With Coen now the head coach of the Jaguars, it would appear that Todd Bowles wants to keep some sort of continuity for Baker Mayfield, even if it means coaches who have never previously worked with Mayfield and just have some connection to the Rams.

What else is new?
