Chris Godwin announced he will no longer be sporting just 'Godwin' on his nameplate.
Chris Godwin has been a prolific wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If not for the Hall of Fame caliber career his counter part has had, Godwin would be Tampa Bay's most productive career pass-catcher. Godwin is second, behind Mike Evans, across every major receiving statistic in franchise history.
Tampa Bay fans can now confirm that 'Chris Godwin' won't be adding to those numbers any further. Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Chris Godwin will now officially be known as Chris Godwin Jr.β
Stating he would be adding the Jr., "In honor of the man who gave so unselfishly of himself to others and helped mold me into who I am today."
Jr. or no Jr. Chris Godwin (Jr.) will be positioned to play a vital role in ensuring Tampa Bay's offense maintains the dominance it was able to achieve a year ago. While 'Chris Godwin' may be gone he is unlikely to ever be forgotten and if Chris Godwin Jr. plays near the standard set by his predecessor, Godwin Jr. jerseys will become a Sunday staple at Raymond James.
