The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be without one of their top offensive stars for Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Second-year running back Bucky Irving was seen in a walking boot and using crutches after suffering a foot sprain against the Philadelphia Eagles.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the team isn’t concerned about Irving’s long-term health, though.

“Buccaneers do not fear Bucky Irving’s foot sprain is a long-term injury, per source. The team considers it a week-to week injury,” Schefter posted on X.

Irving’s status remains unclear for Sunday, but the timing of the injury remains a mystery. He played the entire game against Philadelphia, rushing for 63 yards on 15 carries and adding five catches for 102 yards, including a 72-yard touchdown reception.

Irving Seeking Medical Opinions on Treatment

According to NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Irving is getting medical opinions on how to treat the foot sprain.

If Irving can’t go, Rachaad White will be the lead back.

The Buccaneers selected Irving in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He finished a strong rookie campaign with 1,122 rushing yards on 207 carries and eight touchdowns while adding 47 catches for 392 receiving yards.

Through four games in 2025, Irving has rushed 71 times for 237 yards, averaging 3.3 yards per carry compared to 5.4 last year. He has yet to score a rushing touchdown this season but does have two receiving scores.
