It’s that time of the year again, when hordes of data are deeply analyzed, multiple metrics are intensely scrutinized, endless spreadsheets are masterfully studied, and romantic relationships are heavily tested. It’s NFL Fantasy!

With the new season just around the corner, fans are probably already thinking about the players they will draft in NFL Fantasy, an annual tradition that clearly rivals the yearly commemoration of the Battle of Normandy.

And what better way to learn strategy than from an NFL star? Just ask Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield.

During a team event, a young boy was talking about NFL Fantasy with Mayfield, seemingly blaming the two-time Pro Bowler for not helping his fantasy squad. Mayfield gave a hilarious response.

“Don’t draft a quarterback in the first round. That’s why your fantasy team’s not doing well. You’ve got to go running back or wide receiver in the first round. You know this!” said Mayfield.

“Don’t blame me! You had a bad draft!”

Tell him how you really feel, Mayfield!

Fans praised the 31-year-old signal-caller for spending time with the youth and actually interacting with them.

“This is why I love Baker!” said @Javz813.

“This is spectacular,” added @Sgeee89.

“As a diehard (New Orleans) Saints fan, I will admit: Baker’s a good dude, and I wish him well (except against the Saints),” wrote @StevenThomaRE.

“Love Baker. Can’t believe so many teams didn’t want him. Looking at you, Cleveland,” posted @BrandonFFish.

“Love this,” commented @hollee_berry_.

Mayfield has found a home in Tampa Bay after not finding much success in his first five years. He has been embraced by the community because of his attitude and charity. Of course, it helps that he’s pretty good at football as well.

The Buccaneers will look to redeem themselves after falling short of qualifying for the playoffs last season. Mayfield, who is negotiating for a contract extension, saw his numbers dip, passing for 3,693 yards and 26 touchdowns.

OK, maybe the young boy’s gripe was legit.
