BTB Wednesday Discussion: Do you think the Cowboys were right regarding Trevon Diggs?

The Cowboys made quite the decision with Trevon Diggs.

The Dallas Cowboys recently drew a hard line in the sand.

Cornerback Trevon Diggs did not meet the minimum threshold for workouts with the team over the offseason so the team reduced his salary by $500,000. To be clear they allegedly had the contractual right to do this.

In a black and white world, the Cowboys did no wrong. It was their right to deduct the amount that they did if the conditions were not met by Diggs and the conditions were not met. End of story. Right?

Clearly that is not the case. The Cowboys have spent the first part of training camp stirring the pot a little bit with some of their players and Diggs, who was included in that by way of a Jerry Jones remark on Monday, offered his thoughts in return after Tuesday’s first practice of camp. He noted he was surprised that the team did what they did.

Our discussion question today here at BTB is simple. Do you believe the Cowboys were in the right to deduce his salary? Again, they were literally and technically correct. No one is offering anything other than that. The counter to this would be that Dallas doing this did not necessarily save them anything significant from a financial perspective and that the “savings” weren’t worth the price they will have to pay (in a proverbial sense) with all of this aftermath.
