The Cleveland Browns defeated the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 of the NFL season in a result that no one saw coming. Seriously, I’m not sure any of the players’ families even picked the Browns this week against a team that was considered one of the best in the NFL through two weeks of the season.
Yet, here we are with Cleveland going crazy (we’ve heard that some fireworks were seen and heard right after Andre Szmyt’s field goal went through the goal post) and Green Bay is wondering how their team played like the other team’s uniform (crap).
Like many of you, hopefully, the end of this game was just exciting. Going from close to zero hope as the offense struggled for drive after drive to the build of “you are saying there is a chance” with the Grant Delpit interception that felt like fool’s gold. Then, the touchdown to tie the game was equal parts “maybe we can do this” and “let’s see how the Browns can screw this up.”
The blocked field goal created the “at least we will get to overtime” feeling with the diehards either knowing for sure Cleveland would come out victorious, finally, or for sure the Browns would find a way to screw it up.
Redemption was Szmyt’s as star defender Micah Parsons’ penalty and 11 yards on two passing plays gave the rookie a chance to win the game with a 55-yard field goal.
How did you feel? What was your reaction Browns fans? How many texts, calls and social media messages did you get from folks, including those you haven’t talked to in a while?
That feeling is why winning matters, why it is hard to ever quit the NFL and why the Browns, a team that hasn’t won much since The Return, continue to have the greatest fans in the world.
That one was for all of you. Cleveland fans have dealt with a lot of bad football but games like Sunday’s is what keeps us coming back for more.
Your Browns beat one of the best teams in the NFL, providng that defense can lead the way (when the offense does just enough). The good news in Cleveland doesn’t stop with the victory. The Browns 2025 NFL draft class looks like it might be great. DT Mason Graham created problems up the middle all game, LB Carson Schwesinger was all over the field, RB Quinshon Judkins sparked the team’s 63-yard drive to get the first points on the board and TE Harold Fannin Jr. continues to get seperation and make plays.,
Week 3 versus the Packers is why we love the NFL and why Cleveland Browns fans keep coming back for more, week after week.
Share your experience, Browns fans: What were you thinking, feeling, doing as your team pulled a victory out of defeat in Week 3?
