The Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills matchup in a chilly Week 16 AFC game that is only meaningful for the visitors from New York. The Browns are hoping to see more out of QB Shedeur Sanders and that DE Myles Garrett can set the all-time single-season sack record this week at home.

Cleveland and Buffalo will both be without key starters and contributors in Week 16. Browns fans will also be paying attention to a couple of other games that could have a huge impact on the team’s 2026 NFL draft order. Cleveland heads into this week’s game positioned as the fourth overall pick, but could be looking at moving up a couple of spots heading into Week 17.

Browns vs Bills: Key 1st quarter notes

  • Cleveland’s early script on offense is both creative and purposeful in taking advantage of Buffalo’s defense

  • Great ball handling by Sanders leads to a great play-action designed touchdown pass for a 13-yard TD

  • Defensive optional? The Bills just picked apart the Browns defense on their drive, including having multiple blockers on Garrett or running everything away from him

  • Cook broke multiple tackles to get into the endzone on a 44-yard rush

  • A rare decent kick return, to the 37-yard line (yes, that is big for Cleveland’s special teams), gives the Browns decent starting field position

  • A hold on Luke Wypler brought back a big Judkins’ run (that wouldn’t have been big if Wypler hadn’t held)

  • A perfectly designed RB screen, with the Bills blitzing, gets 18 yards. Sanders took a big hit but put the pass where it was needed to get a first down on a long third-down attempt

  • Sanders’ throw is behind Judkins, and a little hard for the RB, leading to a tipped pass and an INT

    • As you can see in the tweet below, fault will be discussed differently on that play
