Browns training camp: Week 2’s schedule includes dealing with the heat

Next step in the QB competition starts on Monday

The Cleveland Browns take a day off on Sunday after the first week of training camp. We are no closer to knowing who will take the starting quarterback spot, although Shedeur Sanders hasn’t been getting reps with the first team, but he had some highlights on Saturday.

All that we really have learned since the start of training camp is that the linebacker spot is thinner with Jordan Hicks’ retirement and the spot across from Myles Garrett might be up in the air more than we expected.

So when will Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Sanders return to the field? The current schedule includes a mix of afternoon and morning practices this week.

The current forecast has Monday’s practice kicking off when it is 89 degrees with a feels-like temperature of 94. The UV Index is forecasted at 9 out of 11 and 51% humidity. Tuesday’s forecast includes a similar high temperature, while Friday is currently projected to be only 76 degrees at the most, with a low of 58.

Playing outside at 1 PM the first three weeks of the season, Cleveland’s brass is smart to try to get the players acclimated to the heat, but must take safety into account as well. An important balancing act during training camp.

Fans will be present for all of the practices this week, with the last one open to the public coming on Monday, August 4th.
