The Cleveland Browns began filling out their practice squad on Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly after putting in successful waiver claims for cornerback Jarrick Bernard-Converse from the New York Jets and running back Raheim Sanders from the Los Angeles Chargers.

Sanders, an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas and South Carolina, had 28 carries for 101 yards (3.6 YPC) and 2 touchdowns, to go along with 5 catches for 29 yards, in the preseason with the Chargers.

Bernard-Converse was a 6th-round pick by the Jets in 2023 out of Oklahoma State and LSU. According to Jets fans, he has had two standout summers in a row, but the logjam at their cornerback position prevented him from making the team.

Berry then got back to work, with the first task to waive tight end Brendan Bates and cornerback Dom Jones to make room on the 53-man roster for Bernard-Converse and Sanders.

The Browns then announced that nine players have been signed to the practice squad:

  • Tight end Sal Cannella
  • Wide receiver Kaden Davis
  • Safety Christopher Edmonds
  • Defensive tackle Ralph Holley
  • Cornerback LaMareon James
  • Defensive tackle Sam Kamara
  • Running back Ahmani Marshall
  • Defensive end Julian Okwara
  • Running back Trayveon Williams

Teams are limited to a maximum of 16 players on the practice squad, with 10 of the spots being allocated to rookies or second-year players. The remaining spots can be used on any player, regardless of how long they have been in the league.
