Steelers Now
The Cleveland Browns have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Mark Robinson to their practice squad. Robinson was released by the Steelers on Nov. 25 after signing with the team’s practice squad on Nov. 4. That was his second tenure with the club.
Robinson was drafted by the Steelers in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was on the team’s active roster and practice squad before being released in late August.
On Aug. 28, Robinson was signed to the New England Patriots’ practice squad. The New York Jets signed Robinson to their active roster off the Patriots’ practice squad on Sept. 23.
Robinson did not last long with the Jets, however, as he was waived on Oct. 18.
The former Ole Miss product was selected in the 2022 NFL Draft. He converted from running back to linebacker during his collegiate career. After making a number of plays in the 2022 preseason, he carved out a role.
Robinson appeared in 38 career games, recording four starts, 45 tackles, and three forced fumbles.
Robinson established himself as a run stopper and became a valuable contributor on special teams. However, in a room with Patrick Queen, Payton Wilson, and now healthy Cole Holcomb, there were maybe one or two spots available in the room. Seventh-round rookie Carson Bruener got the nod ahead of Robinson.
In three games with the Patriots, Robinson appeared in 37 snaps, all on special teams, playing half of New England’s special teams snaps and working on five different special teams phases. He recorded three tackles in his three-week stint in New England.
In three games with the Jets, Robinson played 62 total snaps, 58 coming on special teams. He recorded two tackles.
The Steelers play the Browns in Cleveland on Dec. 28.
