Browns QB room will be a big topic of throughout training camp but Shedeur Sanders says they are united

The Cleveland Browns head into more OTAs and minicamps before training camp with five quarterbacks on their roster and four who could/should make the final roster. While Adam Schefter believes the Browns could trade one of the veterans, the QB room is going to be an interesting discussion point for a variety of reasons:

  • Joe Flacco is the old guy who struggled the last few years of his career, except for a magical run in Cleveland two seasons ago
  • Kenny Pickett was a first-round pick just a few seasons ago and won a Super Bowl last year as the backup with the Philadelphia Eagles
  • Dillon Gabriel is undersized and many were shocked when the Browns selected him in the third round
  • Shedeur Sanders is a megastar in pop culture, who many were shocked when he fell out of the second round (much less lasting to the fifth) and that Cleveland added him to an already packed room
  • Deshaun Watson

Speaking to Kay Adams at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere, Sanders was asked about the Browns QB room. You can see how surreal it is for Sanders to be in a quarterback room with Flacco, who has almost as many years of NFL experience (18th season) as Sanders has years on the earth (23). At the end, the rookie talked about being “one” with the guys in the quarterback room despite “outside of the room people try to pit us against each other.”

Here is that part of the conversation:

In the end, each quarterback has to focus on their own growth, but helping the team win is the best way to do that. A tough balance, at times, but one they seem prepared for.
